Turkey is the second after Italy!

Turkey ranks second in rifle exports and its share in the world export market is 10%. The total export volume is around 135 million dollars. A very important part of the hunting rifle production of Turkey, which has an important place in the world export market, is made in the Huğlu-Üzümlü region (ITC, 2020). In Italy, most of the rifle production is made from a town in the Brescia region. There are 150 businesses in the town, which is called the hunting rifle capital of the world and Europe, and 70% of the hunting rifles used in the European Union and 40% of the hunting rifles used in the world are produced in Italy. 75% of the hunting rifles produced in Turkey are supplied from the Huğlu and Üzümlü regions. Shotgun production started in the region during the First World War; It is similar to Italy in terms of factors such as geography, long years of knowledge, skills and experience.

Konya is located in the city center of the target and directed city center. In the towns of Huğlu and Üzümlü, which are connected to the district in Beyşehir, there are extensive commercial local businesses consisting of accommodation facilities and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) until 1914.

Huğlu region is the place where the first hunting rifle was manufactured in Turkey. Since the region is not suitable for agriculture and animal husbandry due to its geographical conditions, rifle production, which made progress in the 1950s, also offered employment opportunities to the surrounding regions. It exports 80% of the rifles it produces to 54 countries, primarily the USA. The hunting rifle named Renova, manufactured in the Huğlu hunting rifles cooperative, has managed to enter the Guinness Book of Records (Yaşar, 2019). The production of shotguns, which started in Huğlu, also directed the people of Üzümlü to the production of weapons. Üzümlü and Huğlu formed a natural cluster on hunting rifles. There are Selçuk University Huğlu Vocational School, which was established in 1994 to train qualified personnel for the sector, and Beyşehir Huğlu Machinery Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, which is the only thematic vocational high school that provides specialized education in the field of machine technology in the region. Protocols were signed with businesses that manufacture shotguns and parts in high school, and the sector's need for qualified personnel began to be met by providing training in areas that meet the needs of the sector.
